Is a Bristol wedding videographer worth it?

Now, as a Bristol wedding videographer, take what I say with a pinch of salt. I obviously have a bias! However, when meeting with clients after I’ve shot their wedding video in Bristol, and discussing how happy they were with the result, and if it was worth it or not in the end, it seemed like a good idea to put pen to paper. Or fingers to keyboard.

Bristol wedding videography often feels a little bit overlooked, but don’t get me wrong, I completely get it. Weddings are so expensive as they are, and there’s already more than enough things to pay for, from catering to flowers to actual venue fees. Bristol wedding photography is often seen as enough, and that in of itself is also rather pricey. So when you already have a mountain of things to get and pay off for your wedding, why add another thing to the list?

A picture speaks a thousand words…
And a film is a thousand pictures.

Don’t get me wrong, wedding photography is a must. And I doubt many people on this Earth would have a wedding without getting a photographer of some kind. But I do think that a wedding film is undoubtedly unrivalled when it comes to looking back at your wedding months, or years into the future.

Movie magic is a real thing. On an evening after a long day, we sit down to watch moving image for a reason. It’s visceral, it moves us, and it can really place us in a moment of time. Undoubtedly, looking back on your wedding photos is a moving experience, but looking back at your wedding film is a magical experience. And it turns into an event in of itself, with bristol wedding video clients of mine even hosting movie screening nights for family and friends to share their wedding videos.

A Bristol wedding film is more than a film.
It’s a peak behind the curtains.

Your wedding day is months in the planning, and over in the blink of an eye. And it’s the happy couple - the bride and groom - who miss the most of it. They’re the busiest people at a wedding: couples shoots with the photographer, catching up with the event co-ordinator, and constant conversation with loved ones. It’s a joyous day, but that’s so many bits that they miss.

When you get a bristol wedding videographer like me at Vow Video, not only do you get a cinematic, moving wedding film. But your also get a chronological, feature length edit of everything the camera captured throughout the day. This means that you see all of the moments, reactions, and minute details of the weddings that you didn’t get to capture when swallowed up by joyous celebrations. It’s like being a fly on the wall at your very own wedding!

Before, it’s an extra cost,
Afterwards, it’s priceless.

Like I mentioned at the start of this blog post, when meeting with Bristol wedding video clients after delivering their films for them, I always like to get their thoughts on the process. Often my clients have had the photographer booked for many months, but decide they they want a videographer closer to the time - mainly after grappling with whether the extra cost is worth it.

Every single one of my clients has said that while in the moment, they were umming and ahhing over the extra cost, once they received their films, it was infinitely worth it and if they went back in time, they’d book Vow Video as their bristol wedding videographer in a heartbeat.

It gives them something to not only look back on for years to come, but also to share with family, friends and in the long run… little ones.

But instead of me banging my own drum, here’s a testimonial from the wonderful Josh & Izzie, who I was The Mount Without wedding videographer for.

'“The video Niall captured of our wedding day is incredible, it sums up the day perfectly. Niall was completely flexible both on the day and after with the type of video we wanted and what we wanted to be captured. We cannot express how happy we are to have the video as a memory!”

If you’re currently in the conundrum of whether or not to book a Bristol wedding videographer, just give it some thought. Yes there’s cons - namely price. But the pros truly outweight the cons, leaving you with a suite of incredible videos for you to look back on. And when it’s the biggest, most special day of your life, you can’t put a price on that.
